Changed the transmission fluid (was pleasantly surprised i didn't have to drop the pan because the P.O. made a drain plug in the stock pan) and replaced the fuel filter. I struggled with it for a half hour before deciding to take the Vice Grip Garage approach and cut the filter lines with a coping saw, which let me remove the connection tabs easy-peasy. Sometimes a feller just needs to think outside the box sometimes. I didn't see any Mopar markings on the old filter so it wasn't the original filter and probably might not have needed changing. Oh well. I suppose it didn't hurt anything.

Dropped my rigged together exhaust system early this morning (3am) while on my snow clearing route. Picked up a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler locally and took it to my local shop. Had to replace the intermediate pipe as well, charged me $112 bucks and the muffler was $75, the tailpipe was salvageable. Has to me the perfect sound, a nice rumble with no drone at all. It's part number 17748.

What was the cheap brand that only lasted 15k miles?

Yes it was. Went cheap in hopes it would last until I could put a nice one in.

Seems like an expensive way of doing it to me.

That's more or less what my '98 XJ's got, strictly speaking it's illegal - but it's passed inspection for at least 4 years - & seems fine. (Being a one piece welded system can be a bit of a pain though when working on/near it)

What did you do to your WJ today?

Made some progress on my one ton swap (09 SD axles). Just waiting on a few miscellaneous pieces before I can throw the front under the Jeep.

Sent it on it's final journey!

Sad? Only at the money I lost over far too short a time but it's been an interesting experience - but, in the end, just relieved it's out of the way really.
