Just received the transfer case lube so I can change that, and oil & filter, before the snow flies. Driveway projects...

It's a thousand bucks to redo the heads with new intake seats plus another $400 for timing chains and guides and gaskets and whatnot. With me doing the labor.

What else did I have to do in a pandemic?
I got that. I didn't have any coolant in my oil and I discovered this during winter, I do commercial snow salting with my Jeep and a trailer and could not have it down during that time, I would lose too much money. Check out Cylinder Heads International out of Texas, $300 per head remanned with new good seats and no up front core charge. I am installing one today to replace the JUNK Clearwater Cylinder Heads sold me less than 2 years ago, dropped an intake seat last Thursday.

Replaced all of the PCV lines and the connectors on the heads. I had a oil burning smell upon startup (occasionally) and while running and after shutdown. I thought it might be valve cover gaskets (still might be a problem but one at a time). I talked to a friend who has been a master mechanic for 35+ years and he mentioned the pcv crossover tube and the tube from the pcv valve to the block. They get old and the rubber hoses can leak. The hoses were hardened but the main problem turned out to be the connectors on the heads, they weren't even finger tight.

I haven't run it much as we (in commiefornia) are on lockdown and since my son tested positive for Covid the whole house is quarantined. Time to catch up on things around here.

I finally turned the key on my WJ after rebuilding the bottom end. Purrs like a kitten and oil pressure is fantastic! However, I fried my starter while priming the engine. Last night I did a late night starter swap, but I couldn't get my upper control arm back on. It's always something

not sure how you did it, but if you just need to spin the engine to prime it, and you don't have an oil pump prime shaft, be sure to pull the plugs. a little shot of oil in the holes, and crank it until you see that oil pressure. takes a tremendous load off the starter, and you'll get oil pressure a lot faster. (for those guys doing this in the future) the load of the crank fighting cylinder pressure vanishes with the plugs out.

Yeah, I had the plugs out and the serpentine belt off so it wasn't turning anything but the crankshaft. I pulled the fuses for the fuel pump and the injectors, then turned the key and let the start turn over for about 20 seconds. I did that like 6 or 7 times. I had turned it over by hand, but I didn't want to risk having no oil back there. Oh well, lesson learned.

your starter must have been on the way out, that's not anything that should have toasted it. with no load on it, the starter should be able to run until the battery can't spin it anymore. fingers crossed it all works out for you this time.

Replaced the transmission cross member, thank you Kolak! Also discovered bad ball joints. They were replaced too along with the front wheel bearings. Christmas came early.

This happened on Monday, December 7th, 2020 around 2:40 PM on my way home from work. The final resting place of the Froggy Bandit after she absorbed a hit from an F-150 directly to the passenger side. The guy hit me in the middle of an intersection in the busy town of New Castle, Pa. He rolled me up on my driver's side. The Jeep slid that way for about 60 feet before coming to rest back on her four wheels.

What do you think, Jeepers? Was that guy going 25 miles per hour through the intersection?

Again, I was fortunate to walk away from this wreck without so much as a scratch or a bruise. The passenger seat was crushed into the center console, which was then pushed into my kidney/abdomen area. I haven't wizzed any blood, but that area of my torso is a little tender from the impact. She had almost 233K on her clock and has served my family well.

Now, I get to look for another WJ and possibly my next and final build. Also, I might just make the 2004 SE WJ my daily driver and buy my wife something new. How would Inferno Red look with a 3" coil lift and mudders?? We shall see....

I'd venture to say he was going faster than 25!

You're super lucky you didn't roll, I feel as though your outcome would have been a little worse. Glad you are ok!

Glad you're ok. I suspect that roof rack helped a little bit in keeping Froggy from rolling.
