Vehicle loses all electrical power

Hi folks. I have a 2004 Grand Cherokee with a 4.7l. It has set for a while because I had been driving my work truck. I went to fire it up and when I turned the key, nothing at all happened. I thought the battery had just died. I put a jump pack on it and no difference. I got to monkeying around and I noticed when I would pull the key, the gauges would jump around. I also thought I could faintly hear the door chime going off too. Other than that... no power at all. No lights, no windows, no seats. I disconnected the negative cable on the battery and reconnected it with no luck. I then disconnected both the positive and negative cables and reconnected them. When I did this there was a series of short horn beeps. When I went to start it, it fired right off like nothing had ever happened. I wasn't sure what the deal was but now I'm running so I just went on with my day. Things were fine for a while and one day while my wife was driving the thing just lost all power out of the blue. No electrical at all. No power steering or brakes nothing... and she was moving! Luckily we live in a small town. She was driving slow and two old gentlemen helper her push it off the road to a gas station. When I got home from work I did the same thing with the battery, a few beeps, and she is off and running again. It happened one more time while parked... same fix.

This has me very concerned that it would lose power like that while moving. If she would have been traveling a 50 mph on a curvy road (all of them around here are like that) who knows what would have happened.

The cables and connections look good on the surface but I am wondering if there may be corrosion down inside a cable.

Sorry for the long post. Any help is appreciated.

Garage
Is there any aftermarket add-ons in your WJ like a keyless start or an aftermarket security system?

2002 Laredo. Baloo.
2004 Rocky Mountain Edition. Froggy Bandit. Wife's Daily Driver. PRISTINE! Stock height and may stay that way.....

Mattyjm there is an Astrostart remote starter. It has been installed since 2007. You think that may be the culprit?
