Donít pull the end of the cable off. No reason to do that.
You will have to take the white clip off because it has teeth that lock the cable in position.

Once you remove the white clip, the cable is spring loaded. Press the cable towards the air cleaner box side and let it come back on its own. The stick the white clip back. You are all set.

Be careful; first time I pulled mine off it snapped and got lost in the grass! Not easy to source without buying the entire cable.

Garage
My brother had a throttle position sensor and idle air control valve both out at the same time and his was shifting badly. Replaced them both and it solved it. Took a long time before it threw a code too but probably the TPS has some input for a downshift when you put your foot in it I would guess.

this is easy going driving, not hard. it will "sometime" downshift with slight pedal pressure going steady at 40 to 50 mph.
it just seems like this started recently.

Really? Thatís the right way to do it? Iím going to do that tomorrow... or later today...I see itís already tomorrow!

I donít think the way Iíve done it is working quite right.

Now the trick is flooring it and putting the clip on by myself!

Photoweb, did 2oldjeeps trick fix your problem? I'm having a hell of a time adjusting and end up getting the cable too far out, causing the gas pedal to bind.
