Turn off airbags in 2003 WJ

Hi

Is there any easy way to turn the airbags off - to disconnect the airbags? I have a recall and they could go off accidentally - I just bought this Jeep and will do the recall once Covid19 is more sorted out - I am in NYC so it is more an issue here than in some other areas. It is just me in the WJ and I wear seat belts. Here is more on the recall...

Cheers

what did your friendly jeep dealer and jeep corp advise on the recall?
Was your vehicle within the vin and build dates affected by the recall?
Dealers are still open taking precautions and making arrangements during this covid19 time.

Why would NYC be any different than any urban area?

When I see the price of OEM I think aftermarket.
When I see the quality of aftermarket I think OEM.

I will likely call tomorrow - NYC is by far the hardest hit area in the country. I don't really want to deal with the dealer right now - and I also don't want my airbags going off while I am driving this thing. I have only just bought it.

Anyone know how to temporarily disconnect the airbags easily?

my bad - yes NYC and covid19 is a big issue.

I thought NYC and vehicles issues.

When I see the price of OEM I think aftermarket.
When I see the quality of aftermarket I think OEM.

All done with recalls - dealer took 6 days not 2 hours but there you go. At least I will not die on the turnpike from random airbag inflation.

First of all how do you know the recall hasn't been done already?

Go to NHTSA.gov and run your recalls by VIN and it will tell you if it needs to be done. You can also pull the detailed procedure on how they do the fix, which they are required by law to provide. They just replace the airbag module under the center console. It doesn't take long.

edit. nevermind you got it fixed. They must have done a lot of jacking off to take 6 days, wow.
