Engine stalls on braking once or twice after starting from cold. After that it is OK for the rest of the drive. The running is rough as if about to give up before the stall.

Being an absolute novice, was wondering if anyone has any feedback on using -
Lubegard Instant Shudder Fix, as I suspect it may be the Torque Converter

when you feel the stall is about to happen shift to N - did the engine smooth out?

A TCC solenoid issue would likely set a DTC - maybe SCAN for codes.. thise trans codes may NOT show up with the key on off code check. and trans codes may not set CEL to on.

When I see the price of OEM I think aftermarket.
When I see the quality of aftermarket I think OEM.

Check your tranny fluid level. I had a similar issue in the past.

Mine was doing the same though would not stall, rpm's would drop to around 400 or even less sometimes and then climb back up to normal. I replaced the PCM for a different issue and that fixed it for awhile. However recently I noticed it doing it again on occasion though not as drastic as prior to the PCM fix.

2004 Limited, 4.7 modded slightly, IRO 3" RockLink LA front, adjustable SA rear, Bilsteins, Addco bar, JKS disconnects. Coming attractions include 242hd, IRO SYE and Woods DS right after the new engine/trans..

sparky636, you are a champ - absolutely right on the solution!
Discovered that the 2 slender rubber hoses connecting the transmission oil cooler underneath the radiator had sprung a leak and the transmission oil had drained off. The DIPSTICK was bone dry - so that explains why it was running fine after a few stops - must have been running OK with the with the sump wash after the transmission warmed up.
Replaced the rubber hose pinch clips with C Hose clamp that screws tight and topped up with
Penrite FS MultiVehicle ATF

Lucas Transmission Fix Stop Slip 700mL

Been running a week without issues, fingers crossed!
