Some items fell down air vent

I had to take off the vent piece for the front window to do some work. Well I didn’t put it back on and a bunch of trinkets fell into the vent hole while driving. Now I don’t know how to reach and get them back. Do I have to cut open the blend doors? I’ve cut the first two sections open but nothing there. Does it go back one more? Where do they all end up. Please help omg thx

Not sure where it will end up exactly, but the lowest part of the system is near the heater core and evaporator core. That way any moisture will travel to the bottom and go out the drain in the firewall. My guess is its all gonna end up down there eventually....

If memory serves me correctly the heater core blocks access to the drain from a large object as its pushed through a rectangular slot behind the hvac.

i think only moisture can travel backwards? I never took pics from inside my hvac.

You may be able to access some pieces from behind the blend doors. I cant remember exactly, but it seems like you could get right next to the heater core with the blend doors out. This of course means cutting the hole in the box like you are fixing the blend doors.

Are the trinkets worth anything or causing any type of problems with your HVAC system? Point is you just may want to leave them be if nothing is malfunctioning.

Not sure what you already cut but below are photos of the front of the the box when I replaced my blend doors. No need to read all that text and that soldering iron flat tip I made created a whole lot less mess than a dremel or similar cutting tool. And you can buy that foil duct tape at the big box stores.

You could also remove the 3 screws holding the blower motor in the bottom of the box and reach up in there to see if you feel anything.

Anything metal/steel on the trinkets? You could use one of those magnets on the end of a flex shaft if so.

Also those endoscope/bore-scope cameras which fit a smartphone or iphone are cheap if you want to stick it in the vent to see where it is. Just don't get it stuck too.

Even better is a 5mm dia. lens endoscope camera below with wifi for only $20. You may want to read questions and answers on compatibility.
