Radiator Options For Non-Trans Cooler

I want to replace my radiator in my 04 Jeep 4.0 and tried to buy one today with no luck. Mine has no transmission oil cooler lines and every parts store I checked only has the ones with the two ports for the cooler lines. I called the Jeep dealer and was told they are on back order. You would think the aftermarket companies would make both. Has anyone else ran into this?*

Actually, most, if not all, will only offer one option. There are two reasons:

1. Itís less expensive to only make one that fits all models, and
2. if nothing goes in, nothing comes out. No need to worry about the open connections.

Is there some reason you really just want one without those connections?

I can understand they want to save money and only make one standard across the line but mine can't be that rare that most will install the ones with the ports. I would rather install the same style that it came with from the factory.

Understandable, but if you want to get it back up & running, you may not have a choice. If you have the OEM number, you can search online & see if someone has one available.

Oh its running fine I only want to replace it because the fins are starting to break down on the top and bottom. I did search and it seems only the factory one is available but most don't have them in-stock

Yes, but it doesn't show if its in stock. I think I'll just wait until my local Jeep dealer gets one in-stock. I also don't want to have one shipped just in-case it gets damaged I don't want to deal with returning it.

Thanks...I did come across their page a few days back. I was hoping to find an aftermarket one without the ports but not having any luck. I'll just pick one up from my local Jeep dealer when they get one in-stock.

Amazon has one for $280:

Mopar 5503 7722AA, Radiator https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0049EH4IO..._vixyDb9EK41QY

My only thing is, manufacturers are only required to produce replacement parts for 10 years after a vehicle is built. If the dealer has a part on back order for a ~20 year old vehicle, my bet is that it ainít coming in.

Thanks... I also saw that. I really hate to have one ship, the dealer did mention he should have one in a week or so.

I was wondering has anyone with a 2004 4.0 without trans cooler installed a radiator with the trans cooler ports? If so did it cause any issues? Thanks
