New Starter

Stock starter just recently went out on my 4.7
Open to suggestions on which aftermarket brand has the best reputation. Or if it matters at all?

I used a Mopar starter from the dealer, it was about $130 if remember right. I work at a shop and haven't had much luck with aftermarket starters.

Thats what I was leaning towards. Just wanted to run it through the forums and see if anyone had luck with any other brand.
Much appreciated

Had bad luck with reman'd starters, alternators, and worst (obviously doesn't apply to WJ's) carburetors. I had some clunkers that was the only source of parts for, though. Didn't seem to matter where I got them either: Checker, NAPA, AutoZone.

If you can get new I would, and if you can stick with Mopar.

I've had good luck with the aftermarket units. I've swapped 3 of them, each in a different WJ. 2 were from Adv Auto. The 3rd NAPA unit looked the best of them but they all performed perfectly. My thinking is that the swap is easy enough that I'd rather have the lifetime warranty than go back with the much more expensive mopar unit that's known to fail albeit after 16 or more years...
