New 3" IRO and Wildpeaks

Hey all,

I got a lot of advice from this site that I truly appreciate. I bought a 2000 WJ Limited a month ago and since have put on a lift and new tires so I thought I would post some pics.

Got the lift from Kolak who was great to work with. Went with new spring isolators and a Moog steering stabilizer and the Bilstein 5100s. The lift, isolators, and stabilizer were installed at a local shop with a great reputation for 525.00 I then got an alignment and new 245 75r16 Falken Wildpeaks. I debated tire size and with the help of some forum members went with this size. I love the subtle classy look of this size tire. I read a ton of online reviews and article about this tire and am happy with he purchase. They were 128.00 each with a 10% Memorial Day discount. Some Tacoma forums provided tons of insight into these Wildpeaks.

The lift went on without incident and the tires balanced nicely from America's Tire. They are smooth on the road and will get them off-road tomorrow at Shasta Chappie near Redding.

These shots are before the lift, after the lift with stock tires, and after the new tires were installed. Thanks for the help...I am stoked with my new Jeep.

Excellent look! I also have the 3” IRO lift and have been happy with it and working with Nick was great! My Wildpeaks have been amazing in everything i have thrown at them.

That looks great! I have the same IRO kit and am just waiting for parts to arrive, and wondering about tire size.

Does that tire fit in the spare tire well?

I'm going to go with 245/70R17, which should be the same size as yours. I was worried they would look small, but I think they're perfect! I might do a wheel spacer though, to widen the track a little.

Silver WJ's with 3" IRO lifts seem to be pretty common these days! I run the BFG KO2's at 245/70/17 the tyre will fit in the spare wheel well nicely, pretty tight but it fits.

How do you like the Ko2's? I'm pretty much sold on those, in that size, but my only concern is they're about 10lbs heavier than my stock tires.

Looks good also! I can't wait for my lift to show up

I am finding the KO2's pretty good. I was after an all terrain tyre that offered good wet grip on the road and although not a problem for you in San Diego, was also a winter rated tyre, the KO2's fitted the bill. I am also pleased they fit the spare wheel space.

Prior to adding the IRO lift the WJ did not handle particularly well, due to a combination of worn tyres and worn out steering and suspension components. I went with the adjustable track bar, and Addco sway bar, as well as the Bilstein shocks, and Moog steering damper from IRO. I also changed all the tie rod ends on the front and did the spring isolators. The suspension and tyre combination now give a much better ride and I am much more confident in the handling of the car, I have not noticed them as being noisy either. Off road the tyres have also perfomed well - I am very pleased with them. They are a little more expensive in England than other AT tyres but I would recommend them if you need a good daily driver with reasonable off road ability.

Your WJ looks great. I'll be getting rid of my spacer lift soon and going with a 3" IRO as well.

DJ, if you were referring to my Jeep, then thank you for the comment - the photo was taken on a 'green lane' in the wilds of Hamphsire, in the background you can see a Series Land Rover, a Suzuki Grand Vitara and a Land Rover 101 (ex military) - oddly they always seem to want me to lead.

If you are going the IRO route then I suggest you mail [email protected] and talk to him on what you want from you Jeep, he'll advise on what's sensible and sort you some great prices. Good luck with your project.

Looks good. I agree on @Kolak . I got my 4" IRO springs, isolators, shocks, and other stuff from him and he was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with.

I was referring to you and the OP, both look great! Kolak gets all my money lol; I'll be ordering everything from him. Front driveshaft first...unfortunately the 2.5" BB has killed the cv joint at the transfer case.

The wife and I are planning another trip north in the future, and NH and Maine are more than likely the destination. We visited Boston (Bah-stun?) last fall and had a blast. Spent most of our time in Gloucester and the surrounding area. Had a cold and rainy day, so we just drove and went into NH and Maine, but nothing else other than that.

I believe this tire size 245 75 16 fits in the spare well. I have read that the 265 just barely prevents the tires fit. I cannot speak to the diameter of the 17 when compared to the 16 being exactly the same.

I got my lift and tires Wednesday and took it wheelin on Friday. Thanks to @Kolak !

IRO 3" foundation series with Billstein 5100's. BFG all terrain KO2s in 245/70R17. Thanks for the tire size suggestions, I love the lift and the tires!
The 245/70R17 fits in the spare tire well but makes the cover stick up a bit. I'm going to air it down and see if it helps. No big deal if it doesn't.

SD, I see you went with the KO2's, when you have a few miles on them let us know what you think. The stance of your Jeep with that lift and those tyres looks really good, nice looking Jeep.

4" IRO critical path and 265 75 16 BGF KO AT. Used to work at Discount tire as a younger fella seeing how long these would last and how good they'd balance I'd never buy anything else. Just got back from Jeep Jamboree in Palo Duro lots of loose sand and dirt never even spun a tire these things went everywhere no problem. Oh and they ride super nice and quiet even 10ply rated on a WJ. Just no reason IMHO to buy something else to see if they might be as good. Chances are they won't be. My two cents.
