Mopar P/N 04883077 Hydraulic fluid / Power steering fluid (MS5931) - I cant get this

All, what are you using for this power steering fluid?

Mopar®P/N 04883077 Hydraulic fluid / Power steering fluid (MS5931)

My local dealer only carries the ATF+4 (MS9602) fluid. I understand from this page that you should not use it: http://www.wjjeeps.com/service/maint....htm#AIRFILTER

The factory fill power steering fluid for all 1999-2004 Grand Cherokees is a unique fluid, MS5931. ATF+4 (MS9602) should not be mixed or used as a “topping off” fluid on the Grand Cherokee WJ. All WJ models should be serviced using ONLY the special MS5931 fluid. ATF+4 is NOT an approved Power Steering Fluid and should never be used under any circumstances. Note that all fluids will darken in color with usage and fluid color is no longer an indication of fluid condition.

I got some PS fluid from orileys that states it meets the requirements of MS5931. Is that going to work or is there another fluid I should be using? I don't want to jack up my PS system.

I use the Redline PS fluid that lists MS5931 (among others) on the bottle.

The status of the actual Mopar fluid is unclear. Supposedly Mopar no longer manufactures or sells it, and the P/N you list above has been superseded by 68218064AC, which may or may not be MS5931.

O'Reilly Auto Parts sells power steering fluid that meets the spec- it's in a black one quart bottle. Can't remember the brand name off hand.

No sure why this image appears rotated, the original is not.

I totally missed that part of your original post saying you got this stuff! That's what you want- whatever meets the MS5931 spec. 👍
