key will not turn need help asap

Put the key in ignition and pulled car into garage half way in. Wanted to work on brakes so turned steering wheel all the way to right to expose caliper better and realized had to pull car in further. Put key in and it will now not engage. Flips to the on position the other way but will not turn to start. Did read about tapping the key lightly and that sometimes will help it engage but wheels are locked and key will just not turn. Need to move car. Any thoughts?

The steering wheel is locked. Turn it hard all the way to either side while turning the key. The key word is hard. It should unlock. There's too much pressure on the column.

^^^^^ that's probably the issue, but you can also try taking it out of park and back into park, might not have gotten all the way in.

Pull on it very hard, to the point you think its going to break, then all the sudden the key will turn. Had the same issue with mine.

Same issue.....locked up on me tonight. We have pushed, pulled, poked, prodded, yanked, shaken (but not stirred).........all to no avail. I tried, then put 3 men on it. She's not budging. Any other Words from the Wise would be really Amazing right now. She's stranded in a parking lot and I'd like to get her home.
Thanks!!

Check the shifter is fully seated in park. Mine is a little touchy and sometimes doesnt click all the way in and won't let me turn the key to get it out or turn all the way to start. A little bump forward on the shifter until I hear a click and then everything works fine.
