It is build code AWE and it would also be listed on a build sheet generated from an online build sheet generator like this one:

https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing

Enter the VIN and check the result. It is also discussed at wjjeeps.com here:

Go to the above link and put in the last 17 characters or your VIN. Your suspension option should be listed on the Build Sheet.

Upcountry suspension was a package and also included engine skid plate, tow hooks.

I was under the impression that Quadra-Coil suspension, as notated by the factory, was regular suspension. My 2004 SE WJ came ordered with a trim package that included UC suspension, but the factory buildsheet states that it has Quadra Coil Suspension. So, I'm assuming the original purchaser deleted the UC spring option.

What's funny about that is, the buildsheet for my '04 RM Edition WJ lists it as having regular duty suspension, and not Quadra Coil.

So which is it? Is Quadra Coil the same as Up-Country or was there a third suspension option available?

@MattYj im
I believe I read somewhere that there was no Up Country Suspension package available for the 2004 model year.

i believe that if you measure from the tire wheel well to the ground with up country suspension, you should get 19"1/2. i have it and it is on my build sheet. i read it here on the forums at some point. it was in a thread. i wish i could be more helpful.

You must have meant wheel center to wheel well, because from the ground, my wheel well is about 34 inches or so....no where near 19 1/2". LOL... Wheel center to fender edge on both my '04 WJs is about the same. Near 18 1/2".

Neither WJ is sitting on flat, level ground right now because we don't have much of that around here. According to the UC write-up over at wjjeeps, as well as the piece about the 2004 Special Edition Laredo, UC suspension (but not the whole UC package) was offered at the 4WD "T" trim level. My '04 SE WJ has some parts of the "T" package, but not the whole "T" package. I believe the UC springs and shocks were deleted.

you're correct, sorry about that. My build sheet list it as "Up Country Suspension Group(97-2-26)" i read in these forums that when you measure it it will be 19.5 from the wheel well to the hub. I checked mine and that is what i have. if yours is reading 18.5, makes sense that you have the regular suspension. i had to do some research too when i was wondering. it's been several years so sorry about saying it incorrectly.

All WJs have Quadra-coil suspension.

It's a Jeep marketing term for 4 coil spring suspension.

As far as Up Country suspension, it was available on 2004 models built up until August 29 2003.

After that date the option simply disappeared.

My Overland is a 2004 built on August 28th 2003 so I just snuck in on the Up Country suspension by 1 day.

Thanks for those links - very informative. I have a stock 01 Limited and the build sheet shows the UC package. I have lots of skid plates under my WJ.

I measured from the bottom of the rear wheel well to center of the hub and get 19 1/4 (maybe mine is dropping a tad).
