GPS suggestions?

I'm looking for one that's not crazy expensive but one that can be upgraded with maps, etc. Or if any of y'all are using an app, which one and why?

This subject has been beat up so much.

Personally, I use Google Maps. Use the satellite view and you can look ahead and see if there is anything that's going to be an issue. Also see if the Chick-fil-A ahead has room to park a camper in a nearby parking lot.

I use Tom Tom, but itís obsolete now.
I used to go once a year to a private music festival way out in the middle of nowhere.
Thereís and recording studio where Journey and Bonnie Raif used to record.
There was no cell service, and they still donít.. no cell service = no cellphone maps.

The TomTom worked great and I never got lost.

Yeah, Google maps doesn't show fire roads, forest service roads or anything like that. And, I need something that works with no cell service. Sorry for not being clear.

I have a very old Garmin that did great. With that said, I recently swapped to Gaia, which I have on both a tablet and my celly. Love it. I can go to, and download way points, then use it with multiple different map overlays. You do need to download the areas of the map prior to the trails so that you have it when you lose cell service. They recently released the Apple Carplay (I'm an Android guy, though), which we tried out this weekend and I wasn't as impressed. I have a RAM mount in my WJ for the tablet, and I'm ready to sell the Garmin.
