Gauge face swap

Question, I made a pit stop to the JY today and found a 01 limited with white face gauges and snagged it. I'm trying to confirm if I can swap the gauge face to my 04. I know I can't swap the entire cluster( at least I don't think) but according to wjjeeps the face's can swap. Just wondering if it's been done? I've searched but haven't really got any clear answers.

swap it. it's a bolt-in, plug and play set-up. did you power it up first, to see if it worked? also, look at the miles. the miles are stored in the cluster. a 250K mile cluster is going to bum you out, if you have a 100K mile ride. one of those cheap, cigarette lighter battery jumper packs is perfect for powering up a jy car, to verify lights, wipers, motors, cluster, seats, etc, before you waste time and money pulling them out.

04 will have a dummy oil pressure Guage while the 99 to 03 will show you the exact oil pressure.

On FleaBay...You can get two different type aftermarket white face gauges for your WJ, depending on the year.

I was going to go the above route, but decided to get the stainless rings instead.

Thanks for the info. Didn't power it up so guess I'll see if it works. Mileage doesn't bother me. Most everything has been replaced or rebuilt including engine. I'll maybe good with it tomorrow and see.

i got a set of white face gauges from an overland. when i rip out the dash to do the hvac system rebuild, i'm throwing it in. i lucked out, and found a set that was only 4k miles more than my factory 150k miles. score!

I think you can power the cluster up to show the mileage it is stored in the cluster itself.

yeah, you can snag a harness from another wj, and use the mini jump pack to power up the cluster. will let you see miles and check that it lights up.

Just to close the loop. Swapped the gauge cluster today and except a 40k mileage difference and air bag light staying on works fine.

Must be just me who prefers the black gauges by far - in fact I would've considered swapping out the white ones on my Ltd had I kept it.

Guys you can swap JUST the faces by taking apart the cluster. Not talking about removing the needles (can't be done) I'm talking about the faces through the back of the cluster.
