Front Spring Mount/Perch Rusted

So I was installing a 2.5 in spring coil lift kit and the front spring mounts/perches are rusted and unsafe to put the stiffer springs. Should I just weld a new steel spring mount or get a dana 30 junkyard axle?

If you can weld and can get a new perch it seems to be a no-brainer to me. Why go through the trouble of an axle swap if you can just weld in new perches.

Weld in the new perches. That's what I did.

That kit is $50 and well worth it imo. Simple and straight forward.

I had to weld those onto the axle I pulled from the junkyard. I'm not in the rust belt but those stock pieces just seem to rust off after a while.

Couple pics from when I did mine.

I agree with coldspit .my son and I did mine.( He welded!) not a real big deal. If you have an open differential, I’d consider swapping out to one from a Quadra drive. But the perches on that might be just as bad as yours

Yup. I got a nice set of varilocks off a wj with less than 56k miles. The bar codes and paper labels were still on the axles but the perches were totally rusted out. Not a rust belt car either. On the other hand my wj is a rust belt Jeep with almost 300k mikes and my perches are fine. Go figure.
