Driver's Seat Bracket

Just got my Jeep back from having work done. Got in the driver's seat and leaned back and heard a pop. It does it every time I lean back. I heard this is a common problem with 99 - 04. What can I expect to have to replace, and how much will I have to spend ? I have power, non leather or heated seats.

Pretty much everything electric about that seat is underneath the seat cushion, in the lower frame.

Yes, the nuts strip, and then skip, as you have happening.

The best thing to do is go to the salvage yard and try to locate a matching seat, take it home, move your cushions over onto that frame, and hope for the best.

None of those parts may still be ordered, and the trim code is paramount to getting the same item, that is, with or without memory. While yours has no heat, the heat controller is mounted under the driver front frame, and provides for both front heated seats, so if you come across that, you can probably sell it on auction sites.

My drivers seat is power nothing, and the lower frame cracked. I just welded it up.

My seat frame broke on me too. A little wire did the trick for a while, but not very well. Found a user on here in the classifieds that was relatively close and parting out a WJ, and bought a whole new seat off him. (Actually, I ended up buying the entire interior off him and a few other things for a really good price).

Long story short, I bought my Jeep with cloth interior, 6 way electric seat on the drivers side only... and now I have all leather and 10 way heated electric seats on driver AND passenger.

Super easy job! You can read more about the "how-to" here.

I'd say find yourself a "You-Pull-It" yard and snatch yourself up a new interior. (or at least a new drivers seat)

Ended up welding my lower cushion seat frame and added some reinforcement. Will post photos later.

Tried to get a replacement from the junkyard but of the 4 WJ's I looked at, all we're cracked in the same location. The cracking is around the front left (outer) mounting hole. The good thing is that the lower frame for the manual seats appears to be the same as the power seats. The manual and power sliders use different holes.

My driver's seat is currently apart and noticed that the seat back is slightly twisted. Going to pull that apart and see if the frame is damaged.
