Door switches?

Where is the door jamb switch located on the 2001 WJ for the front driver's door. On our ZJ and XJ, there was a plunger switch in the front of the door jamb to turn the courtesy lights off/on when the door was opened or closed.

My courtesy lights stay on for about 5 minutes after I shut the Jeep off and close the driver's door, and don't come back on until I have started the Jeep again and shut it back off. Also I get a key in ignition chime with the door closed and the ignition off. I'm guessing the switch is bad. Either that or the door wiring?

I found this post...

I would bet you have a broken wire or two in the boot. Take a look in there.

I believe the lock switch on that WJ is located on the back of the key lock cylinder inside the door.

The switch that turns on the interior lights is part of the door latch mechanism. But indeed, check the wiring at the door boot first.

My money is broken on wires in the boot. I had the same dome light and key chime issue as you described. I ended up but splicing 4 wires and taping cracked coating on a couple of others.
