Dana 44 vs Dana 44a Pinion Seal - Are they the same?

I am nervous about ripping into my 1999 Grand Cherokee Rear differential pinion seal. All I can find are seals for the Dana 44 not the Dana 44a, are they the same seal?

Thanks

No, they are not the same seal. The 44A has a larger pinion gear/bearing/seal than the regular 44. If you have to, get the number off the old one, to match it up. I havent had any trouble getting seals for mine.

Guess you must've found your leak?
