Dana 30 or 44 or both?

Can someone help me in figuring out which axles I have in my Grand Cherokee. It's a 2002 Limited,NV247 T-Case, 4.7 V8. From what I read it should have the vari-lock Dana 30 in the front, ( is that right?) but it's the rears I'm not sure about. Would it be the 44 or was that optional ? Thanks.

Note that you'll only have the VariLok differentials if you have the QuadraDrive 4WD system.

Regardless, with the v8, you have a Dana 30 in the front and the Dana 44a in the rear. It's aluminum, and is different than the iron 44 (completely different if you're looking for parts)

It is stamped on the diff it self, if you want a fool proof method of knowing. At least mine does. It says "DANA 30" in a diamond...

Is it broken?

Thanks. But I'm confused with the drive systems and vari-locks, It's a Quadra-trac II so does it have vari-lock. According to an article I read the vari-lock came on starting in 02. Or was it an option?

Vari-Lock axles were only part of Quadra-Drive. If you have Quadra-Trac II, then you do NOT have the Vari-Lock limited slip axles, sorry.

Vari-Lock was available from 1999, the first year of the WJ.

Special Order Option to add a rear LSD to the QuadraTrac II system. Not standard by any means. It is most likely that you have open differentials if you have Quadra-Trac II.

Vari-Lock? All Quadra-Drive equipped WJs have D44a rear axles

Unless equipped with Quadra-Drive. ALL QD rear axles are D44a.

Is your rear diff oval? Or are there some straight edges to it?
