Brakes stop the turn signals

Chasing an answer to why the turn signals stop flashing when I press on the brake pedal. Also, when the brake pedal is pressed, both turn indicator's light up dimly to where you can see them at night. Any idea which direction I can go? It's a 04 Overland, if that makes a difference.

Just got home from work and that's where I was going to start. Going to start opening things up after I finish chores and a snack.

Agree with Delta here, sounds like a bad ground somewhere. Double check the bulb holders in the rear lights . They are known to have bad connections that effect the turn signals. Just a place to start...

Mercedes have the exact same problems and their owners don't complain.

The Merc techs have seen it a thousand times and just fix it and the customer expects to pay the bill. Same for the timing chain guides and a host of other things.

'04 Overland here with the similar problem.

Do you have aftermarket taillights or have you swapped any of the exterior bulbs over to led?

Lol good one. Nope. Had 7 yes seven AC head units, a rear driver side window that rolls down on its own intermittently out of the blue. Replaced all window motor systems, replaced the wires in the door-body grommets due to cracked copper crap alloy they used. He’ll I have 100k more miles on my Lexus and I’ve replaced one window motor only. Nothing else electrical. I just replaced the alternator (yes OEM original) at 310k miles!!

Mechanically I LUV the WJ. Electrically mine SUXs. Baaaaaaad. Inexcusable.

May I suggest you get a different 4wd next time?

Maybe this will help.

I've got both aftermarket LED headlights and taillights. I switched out the flasher relay when I installed them and everything seemed to work fine to start. When I use the flashers, without the brakes, they work great. It's only when I apply the brakes do they stop flashing.

my tj has over 150k miles, and has never had anything other than fluid and filter changes, and I bought it new in 2002. i’ve never even had a flat tire with it.
