bands,linkage,or fluid. funny shift

2nd gear,in /out up to 2500 rpm. sometime stays in,no upshift.


just started in my 99 wj 4.0.
im ill right now, cant do much.
advice?

First, make sure your fluid level is correctly set. Idling in Neutral on level ground with fluid at operating temperature. Then check your tv cable setting. Easy to get wrong. If it is right, your light throttle up shifts will happen at a fairly low engine speed….1500 rpm or so, and your wot up shifts will happen at about 5000 rpm, not too much sooner. If your wot up shifts are below 4000, your tv cable is too loose. One notch on the cable can make a big difference.

thanks guys

im now "3 old jeeps" since i got locked out and admin could not cope with my new email i just reentered as 3oldjeeps. new email, new pass which ill forget !!

new name same jeep guy.
not ready to tackle adjustments
