AZC rebuild.

Looking at redoing my blend doors and such with the metal ones ill link. I see there are mode doors as well I am wondering do I need to include those as well if I am doing everything else?

Or can the mode doors be done after?

Other than the actuator which you can reach near the driver side heater outlet, I believe the mode section is inaccessible without pulling the HVAC box.

While one of the actuators/motors is accessible on the driver's side box to actually change any mode doors the dash is going to need to be removed. You can see further in that blendorstore link where they mention this with every mode door. And below is the mode door set.

http://blendorstore.com/--

When I end up pulling my box I'll end up ordering the above or find a mode door set along with the recirc door too. I've already changed out the dual-control blend doors.

One thing I'm going to make sure I change out is the passenger side blend door actuator which is on the back of the box towards the firewall. Mine was acting a little wonky before and I don't need to pull the box again just to change it out.

This actuator on the firewall-side of the box is identical/same part number as the one for the driver's side blend door on the front of the box. May pay a little more but I'll be going with Mopar for the blend door actuator like below.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Grand-...-/183203197595

Some may just stay with their current one. Good luck xcaliber.

Uniblurb do you know of 3 actuators? 2 for the blend doors and 1 for the recirculation door? I'm going to do the works and I dont want to short change myself. Kolak says the parts book says 4 actuators but I can think of 3

^ Yep. Excaliber, You may want to look at the HVAC box diagram I just posted in another below thread. Also read the last 2 lines I wrote above the diagram along with CarlJH's good post following mine where he found the Mopar AC drain seal (OE 5012696AA) still available.

https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310.../#post40705367

In rebuilding the box I'd replace all foam seals in that diagram including the below ones which fit around the heater core & evaporator tubes while pressing up against the inner firewall:

Seal, AC evaporator, 5014 744AA
Seal, Heater tubes, 5012 744AA

You may want to check with Kolak to see if he can still find these.

Also when I do my box I'm going to replace all the foam seals for the vents as Harry outlined in his real good write-up below.

I would have but its already back together and sitting on my kitchen table. Waiting on three door servo motors that should be here tomorrow. I had a broken drive on my recirc motor. All blend doors were intact and working fine.

I have my dash out and the HVAC apart right now. I am wondering how do I clean my evaporator coils or can I?

I am not replacing either as they work and still look in good shape.

When assembling the new aluminum doors to the HVAC box do I need to use some type of lube on contact points?

There's a product sold in aerosol cans at hardware stores and home improvement warehouses called "coil cleaner". It's commonly used to clean the coils of home AC evaporators.

A long-lasting, plastic-safe lube like white lithium would probably be a good idea on any contact points that move.

Awesome thanks. Just spent a few hours cleaning out the HVAC box, pretty gross.

I got my coolant bled (hopefully) checked every setting seems to change to every mode. On my center vent it blows strange, it blows hard to the left side of the drivers side and the rest is mediocre. I should try another calibration 1st.
