99 WJ blower motor will not run

hey guys, I've been on here a while but haven't really posted anything of value, but was hoping for some help

My problem is that my blower motor for the air will not run. I pulled it out and it runs when connected to a battery. Everything cut out so I replaced the resistor, still not fixed. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong (the 40A fuse under the hood is brand new). I'm also getting power to the resistor and to the blower motor

Thanks in advance

did you check the havc control in the dash. My ford pick up had a similar problem that was fixed by replacing the controls.

Do you have dual zone climate control?

If so, have you pulled the codes from the system yet?

Ya I have the dual climate, and it's not showing any codes except the recirc door travel too large, which has been a problem since I have had it that I just dont need to fix it in my eyes

I pulled the dash control out, and it was getting power and seemed to be sending power back out

thanks for the replies!

Your recirculation door probably fell down and its blocking the air flow completely.

I had a feeling this was your problem.

getting power is not the same as the switch working. you need to test the switch, also check for vacume leak.

im kind of new to all this, but from what I can see it's electronic. Are we talking the fan speed switch on the dash? I pulled it out and it's all wired, no vacuum lines...if that helps

There is no vacuum on the dual zone systems. Its all electronic.

Did you see the info page on WJJeeps yet for diagnosing issues with the blower? If not, here is the link:

Ya I've been through the checklist on that site...still can't find the problem. Maybe I'll go through it again tomorrow and make sure I didn't miss something. My blower fan works when hooked to a battery, but a mechanic friend thinks it's needing too much power to run and the system wont give it to it, . . . any thoughts on that?
