Wj The 4.7 Liter HO head replacement.

For those of you who own the 4.7 Liter High Output... Make no mistake this is an awesome engine with more horse power than the 5.9 Liter V8 .... but when it fails... it it can be a nightmare.
It was running great @ 120000 miles..stopped at coffee shop and upon leaving it would not start right up like usual... i cranked it and feathered the gas to get it running, it sputtered and barely got me home. I pulled up the fault codes and found a internal PCM fault code so I replaced the PCM @ $200... no change. i replaced the crank sensor and the cam position sensor... no help! I checked all 8 coils and fuel injectors, they r all fine. finally took it to suncoast Chrysler Plymouth and they told me it was the fuel injecter on #2 cyl. had them change it @ $325.oo, still wont run... Sputters and wont idle and smells like unburned fuel... they put a camera down #2 cylinder and they
said that my intake valve seat came unseated and caused catastrophic cylinder damage and i need to replace the engine @ $8988.oo.....
I took it out of there and pulled the heads and found nothing catastrophic... just a slight ding in the piston no crack and no cylinder scoring at all. the valve seat did fall out of place and was hanging on the valve. I had the folks at tiger automotive in st. pete FL get me 2 new heads for it installed
and 8 new plugs and it now runs great. runs cooler .. gets better milage .. and feels way stronger than when i first bought it...
Like i said it is an awesome engine.....when its healthy.....

The valve seats are a VERY common problem on the 4.7 up to 2002. $9000 is over twice as much as a decent rebuilt long block.
