3-wire fan wiring

I recently picked up a replacement electric fan from Amazon and it's the TYC 3 wire fan TYC 621130 Jeep Grand Cherokee... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VKPRSY?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

I has assumed it was a two speed but now I am not sure sure, it has 3 wires, black ground and two solid blue wires.

Doesn't matter which blue is used speed appears the same, I have it wired into a fan controller at the moment using one blue as low and the other as high but obviously it is always one speed.

My fan controller can feed both wires for high as it says that is the setup for some fans but I wanted to see before I go and blow it up.

These fans are various speed ... not just hi or lo. That speed is dictated by the PCM and executed with a PWM relay. (Pulse Width Modulation).
Yes it matters what wire is what... You want it to be variable to cool correctly, you also do not want it to overcool.

QUOTE=billzcat1;wsar10 is right on point on this oil thread - as usual. Anyone reading this would be well-served taking his advice.

Ok so after enough reading I found out this was an 04 fan which was dual speed and not PWM.

So I thought bugger it and wired up both hot wires at the same time and presto high speed!

There you go, sorry I didn't see this earlier. '99-'03 used the two wire fan with the PWM control solid state "relay" and the '04 went to the three wire two speed fan.
