2004 V8 Whining noise

Hello all. This is my first post here. I did look around other posts to see if i could find a similar issue but couldn't. so here goes. I just bought a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.7 v8 with 158K miles. i have the common exhaust manifold noise which i will soon replace but i also have a whine that goes up with revs, More pronounced at cold start. I have taken off the belt and started, to rule out the Power steering pump but makes no difference. It seems to change with RPM but quiets down when warmed up. Tranny fluid was a quart low so i topped it off. Fluid color looks good too. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? I get the noise even when im not moving.

These engines have a whine with them that is just normal noise. I believe it is the design of the timing chains and the overhead cams? It sounds as though it has a small supercharger on it. Are you sure you not just hearing this normal whine?

i always thought Vacuum leaks were more with hissing sound but i could be wrong. I will double check to see if i have any today. sometimes my idle goes below 400rpm. not sure if vacuum leaks have anything to do with that

It does definitely sound like a supercharger. My buddy has a 2000 GC with the V8 but its barely noticeable at startup, Where mine sound like a Hellcat, But quiets down after few minutes of highway driving.

Mine is the same way...Pull the serpentine belt off, and start it to listen. If the noise is still there, then it probably isnt anything to worry about. Spin the accessories by hand to double check.

Just tell the chics it's the timing gears to hold your blower in time
