Hello,

I think that we came to the conclusion that all '04 WJs have two pre-cats and four O2 sensors. The pre-cat sensors are one each for the first three and last three cylinders on the I6, and one on each bank of the V8.

This has been covered, but I'm posting mainly to tag the post.

Regards,
Josh

Not to beat a dead horse, but I believe there was a cut-off date mid-03 on the 3rd cat. My 04 was built 03 Oct 2003 and only has two cats and 50 state emissions.
WRT my Build Sheet - NAS 50 State Emissions
WRT my Emissions sticker - …….”qualifies as ULEV 1 under California cleanest vehicle regulations”.

@Uniblurb - good catch about the cats and I should have mentioned it.

2004 Jeep Overland WJ 4.7 H.O. (Bought new in Oct 2003)
2014 Jeep Overland WK2 5.7 Hemi (Bought used in 2016 w/7k miles)

2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302

Where does one actually find the build date? I have a printout I got offline that shows what it left the factory with and options but I dont remember seeing a build date on it.

I pulled this data off the internet.

There is a vehicle Certification Label posted on your driver door shut-face.
DATE OF MFR: 1-96
MDH: 010615 = Month: Jan; Day: 06; Hour: 15

Thanks,

I never thought about that. Looks as if mine was built on 3-04. I couldn't locates MDH anywhere on there but now I know the month at least.

Thanks jtpeters and no problem. Those who write the FSM's have a bad habit of carrying the same diagrams over from year-to-year whether there's been any changes or not. What looks like a short cat on the exhaust pipe which would be to the rear of the trans cross-member just isn't there on my 04 4.7.

All my other Jeeps indeed had that 'Vehicle Safety Certification Label" on the driver's side door shutface area. But not on my WJ and I looked before, along with today, while nowhere to be found. Not sure what happened to it but don't believe it's ever been repainted or had any body damage around that area.

2004 4.7L WJ Limited, 96 4.0 ZJ
