the regular 4.7 doesn't use knock sensors.

If youíre putting a non-HO into an HO rig, you need the PCM because it will be monitoring fuel grade. The fuel management between the two is different.

Hereís what I have gathered:

HO into a non HO:

Option 1 - drop in the HO engine, DO NOT use the HO PCM and simply run high octane to avoid fuel management issues. Some people report running non HO injectors is better.

Option 2 - use the HO PCM, harness and SKIM module for full HO flexibility and the ability to run 87 octane fuel

Non HO to HO

Youíd need the skim, PCM and harness because the computer is looking for knock sensor info and the fuel management is different

Someone correct me if Iím wrong
Wabatuckian and Bigrigr like this.

I canít reply directly to your PM.

Again, Iím no authority on this but my research seems to indicate you need the PCM, harness and skim from your 02. You canít add knock sensors to a non ho because it doesnít have bungs in the heads for them.

Cpuldent I just mount them some how / where so the pcm reads them as there rather than not ? Seams like that would get me by ? Makes sence to me but ..I'm no authority on jeep electrics. I'm just a electrician

I think you are saying to just plug the knock sensors into the harness and leave them hanging. Just to let the PCM think all is well with them, correct? I have never seen anyone do this, but i like your thinking out of the box. It would be good to know if this works, but you may have to be the guinea pig to find the answer for us....Good Luck?

Is there just a pipe plug or something in there now?
