'02 Laredo - Rplcd Flasher relay, prob ensues.

2002 Grand Cherokee Laredo. For background: A few months ago I replaced headlight and taillight assemblies. The tails have LED marker lights. Everything has been working since. In the last few days I noticed turn signals acting funny. Yesterday I realized no turn signals at all and no hazards. Okay, buy and replace the appropriate flasher relay. Hazards work great but left and right turn signals activate all lights just like the hazard switch. What's up with that?
I have read about the solder fix for the "old" flasher. I will do that if I have to but, I'd like to use the NEW one I just bought.
