I got email today to update MY 2017JGC Unconnect 17.43.01 to 18.45.01 I downloaded zip files to a blank USB flash drive. I got this email by my VIN because I registered my 2017 with FCA when I bought it in July.

https://www.driveuconnect.com/suppor...re-update.html

Follow these steps to get started:
1.
Click on link https://www.driveuconnect.com/suppor...re-update.html
2.
Enter all 17 characters of your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN - ____________________)
3.
Follow the step-by-step instructions to download the software to a personal USB and then load the software on your vehicle
The software update is required to ensure proper function of your Uconnect system.
For additional assistance contact Customer Care (877) 855-8400.

I am slow to go at my age (79) with this stuff so will take my time doing it or I can/will get dealer to do it for free according to pdf info file I downloaded from website.

Their master tech Mike replaced my bad radio and downshift switch in my steering wheel recently and got my radio to finally work properly.

I got the same email and did the update which thankfully only took 30 minutes. System seems to respond a bit quicker, other than that I don't notice a thing.

I got my first warning and clicked schedule update and nothing happened.

Then about 2-3 weeks later, I got to work and put the Jeep in park and that's when I had the prompt to install.

I tried, it booted to a progress bar, got to 9%, rebooted again and then was back at the home screen with the time 7 hours off.

This is a first for me - I got a phone call from Uconnect (on my home phone) that I would need to download the update and do it myself. A phone call from a real human, not even a robocall! I had already done the update, so the call was unnecessary, but still a surprise.

Maybe there are so few of us that subscribe to Uconnect that they actually have time to call everybody...

Same with my 2018 HA. I have since learned that we have to get to the screen differently than pre 2018 models. Go to that System Information screen and then press and hold the driver side temp UP+DN+FRONT DEFROST buttons for several seconds, all at the same time. It will go into dealer mode where you can then check the software version. Mine says it is 18.20.2e.

Well, this has been an experience. My missing Off Road pages came back in a couple of days after my radio appeared to do a complete reset. UConnect support finally said to download the updaye and install it from USB.

I finally had time to do it last night, it seemed to work, when done, the radio did display ver 18.45.01.

I just hope it also did the GPS update. That warning has popped up a couple of times before I could get the info on doing the manual update.

Thumbs up UConnís then OTA update 18.43.01

I checked online and I needed the update after a couple of failed OTA attempts. One in which my clock was off (had to uncheck GPS).

Downloaded the and installed the update but mine was 18.45.01 takes about 20 minutes

I used the USB method to update mine to 18.45.01, since I was never prompted for an OTA update (was on 17.x). This finally solved the lags I've experienced with playing music from my iPhone, even over bluetooth. Skipping songs used to take upwards of a minute, and are now immediate.

OTA didn't work for my 2016 RAM, although it seemed to try. Eventually FCA authorized a download for it which went well. Never got an email, however.

The 18.45.01 update did take care of the GPS bug. So far, so good.

Finally, some information. I've been asking about a GPS problem on the Renegade forum for the last week. My clock time was off when syncing with GPS. Yesterday, my GPS was miles off.

My 2017 Renegade is on version 18.01.35. It was updated from Version 16 in July by the dealer when I bought the map update.

A few weeks ago, I saw a popup flash by that said something about an update, but I don't see any indication that any update happened. When I enter my VIN on the Uconnect update site, it says there are no updates.

How could FCA just let our GPS's stop working without a major notification campaign?

I've had too many problems with this car, from engine oil consumption (they replaced the engine), to the backup camera failing twice, and now this problem. I've had more service visits for this car in 3 years than in other cars I've had over 10 years.

I'm nearing the end of my warranty, and as soon as this GPS/Uconnect issue is fixed, I'm trading this thing for a better car.

Interestingly on my 2014 GC Overland, there was a line in settings related to Trailer Brakes, which for the life of me I dont ever recall seeing. I have the Tekosha brake controller installed, but GC should have no control over that.

What exactly is the bug? My GPS intermittently gets all wonky and doesnt show my correct location, and i get the “service phone” error message with the red LED in the rear view next to the 911 button.

And it still has this issue after the update...
