Short ticking noise on start up P0340

Hi all ,
I have just brought a 2011 jeep GC , V6 3.6
On average twice a week I get a short ticking noise on start approximately 1-2 seconds ( maybe starter not returning straight away after engaging the flywheel ? ) hard to say as I'm in the car when starting .
What I am getting thu is every time I hear the click on start up is the engine check light comes on and stays on and the car lacks power , I connect my scan code reader tool and it brings up code fault P0340 and has also brought up code fault P0365 once before , which relates to the cam sensor bank 1 , I then clear the fault using scan tool and the engine check light disappears , car runs normal again until it clicks again on start up then I have to clear the code again , I have been putting up with this for a month now , GRRRR ! .
I have replaced the cam sensor , checked battery cables , replaced starter relay , still no joy .

Any help would be much appreciated .
Thanks
James

So you haven't been able to resolve this?

Perhaps a cam phaser is sticking when cold. Are you using the correct oil weight.

I was born with nuttin' and I still have most of it

tick noise

Hi Coldcase ,
No luck .
When I start it , the ticking noise ( 1-2 secs ) happens directly after the engine turns over then stops and runs quietly , then engine light comes on along with code PO340 .
Once before I have drove the jeep until operating temperature , turned it off for approx 20 mins and started it back up only to get the tick etc back again , so I guess its not due to a cold start thing ? I maybe wrong .
The previous owner just had a oil / filter change ( have the paper work ) the oil they used was 5W-30 .
Thanks

James

tick noise

Hey Coldcase ,

If I can not sort this issue I will take it to a jeep service center , so if you have any suggestions I could try or pass onto the service center that would be great .
Once again thanks for your help
James
