Rear Spoiler Skin Seperation in a 2012?

Here's a challenge... Has anyone seen this? I have a 2012 Grand Cherokee Limited with the unlimited warranty plan... I do have over 265K miles on it so insurance well spent...

Last week, during the first "spring" heat wave here in New England, the rear spoiler cover/skin seemingly separated from the "core" and when my girlfriend raised the tailgate it got stuck on the roof and actually dented the center roof as the "cover" jammed when going up, but that's not my main point. I removed the "skin" so it wouldn't fall off while driving but can't see where/how to reattach it to the core that's bolted to the window? It looks like there was adhesive joining the "skin" to the "core" and over time with heat/conditions, it separated...

Has anyone seen something like this? How did you fix it? can it be re-glued? and would you think this is covered under warranty?

I've been looking at used replacement parts from auto recyclers so I know I can get another complete spoiler unit (skin and core) for ~$200-$250 but if it's covered, I'll go that way...

Appreciate any guidance... Thanks in advance... Jay

I guess no one else has seen this. Taking it to the dealer Friday for their suggestions... They do source used parts if I need to replace the entire spoiler...

I live in San Antonio where it gets sorta hot and stays hot for 9 months every year. We have a 2012 GC and have not seen any problems with the spoiler (or dash).

I agree -- back to the dealer.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply Dr!...

The dealer's initial reaction was gee-whiz, never seen that, let me quote you a replacement ($700 installed). I'll push them on the warranty angle as it wasn't due to my negligence or an accident that cause cover "separation". If that fails, I should be able to source a used part somewhere here in New England. I doesn't look that difficult to replace.

Have a good one...

When I get back in town Sunday, I’ll look up the shopmaual procedure. If I recall correctly its pretty easy, just check alignment. I don't think new ones come prepainted.

I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory;

Update from Friday...

Dealer submitted under my Maxcare warranty but denied. Looking over my plan documents under "Exterior" the spoiler is clearly excluded so, heck, it was worth a shot. Now checking with auto recyclers near me and on eBay for a black spoiler. Dealer scoffed at the ~$700 price for new one installed and suggested I could go used and it was a pretty easy replacement. I've seen used once (wrong color) from $130 - $325... One will pop up...
