I have a 2021 GC that does the same thing. With the ac off it will blow ice cold air out the vents randomly.

Perhaps it the fresh air thing, every once in awhile the HVAC brings more fresh air in. Been a few discussions. Seems quite a bit of variability between Jeeps. Mostly is a complaint about warm/hot air, however.

I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory;

mine does the same with hot air during summer. Out of nowhere it's like the A/C turns off, and humid summer air gets in and recycle is off. Then after 10 seconds, cold normal.

Coldcase said it was some fresh air ''philosophy'' by jeep, and it's on a 2020. I just analysed that behavior as being something programed in the ECU, for whatever reason (preventing mold and odor in the a/c conduits maybe.)

My 2018 does the same thing and has since new. I like to use just the vent in the spring and fall and find it annoying when my Jeep makes the decision to run the AC. I have found I can combat this somewhat by adjusting the temperature slightly when using the vent.

On any other vehicle that I ever owned, when the AC button is off the AC never ran unless it was in defrost mode. They try to save a small amount of fuel with the auto start stop system, but what about the wasted fuel running the AC when not needed.

Im late to the topic, but posted this same issue. Beyond annoying to have the vehicle to run the A/C when IT wants to. If anyone has found a solution yet, Id love to hear about it. Nice 65* day today, would love to just have some fresh air without the A/C on or the windows down.

Using the humidity sensor mounted on the windshield (little box mounted next to the rear view mirror); the HVAC system will kick on the A/C at times to prevent "misting" by removing moisture from the air.

It’s the only annoying thing I’ve found on my Jeep. It’s not quite blasting cold when the AC is on and it’s 95F out but there’s that retarded cold cycling when the AC is off and it’s 60F outside.

This sounds right....i've noticed on certain days condensation would start to form inside bottom of windshield, then would disappear for a bit, then return, then disappear over and over...

Makes sense so I’ll quit whining about it. I love my GC, especially the butt coolers!
