Radio won't shut off regardless of key position if on a phone call

I've got a new 2018 GC and if I am on a hands free call and I get to my destination and turn the car "off" the radio will stay on the call even after the door has been opened, closed and locked again.
Even if I transfer the call to my phone the radio will stay on till I hang up the call.

This can't be right can it? Shouldn't the radio turn off and automatically transfer the call to my phone?

Please shed some light on this!

Mine is worse.

Less than one month old. 2018 GC.
Uconnect 4 system.

Will not power off no matter what I try. Says one of two messages:

- “cannot power off during a call”

OR

- “would you like to continue call on phone yes/no”

No matter what I do it won’t power off.

I am NOT on a call

I have DELETED both iphones from system

I’m sure I’ll wake to a dead battery in my month old Jeep. If so I expect new replacement batteries, as this should NOT happen.

My first Jeep will be my last.

So. Very. Pissed.

Dang that's quite a bit worse than my issue.

These are very peculiar problems.

I’m just steamed tonight. I was calm, polite, and friendly during my interactions with the two people I did speak to by phone, but neither was of any help.

I called the “24/7” assist line for Jeep Wave, but they are clearly NOT 24/7 therefore they can’t assist.

I called Roadside Assistance and they couldn’t help, but offered to transfer me to customer relations to leave a voicemail. Instead I was disconnected.

I called a customer service line for SiriusXM / Unconnect and had a friendly representative tell me he was more in the area of support for SiriusXM. He tried to get me to the “24/7” support team (he had a number for them) and there was no one answering that line either. A message advised to call back at a later date.

This is piss poor customer service. They don’t even make it clear which fuse to pull. There are no instructions to reset the unit. The stuff I found via Google was mostly for the 8.4 version and the one (Wrangler) forum thread I did find left no resolution.

It’s a bad feeling to go to bed knowing your car is still awake.

If you are handy, you could try disconnecting the battery for five minutes. That may reset things.

There seems to be some bad radios that do similar things.

While he was waiting for a replacement radio, there was one member here awhile ago that routinely disconnected the radio when leaving the Jeep for any period of time, and then reconnecting when returning. Not bad once you get the hang of it.

You could try a dealer's service department.

Thanks.

I fully expected to wake to dead battery but it somehow reset itself.

Very strange.

I still think Jeep should disclose a reset procedure.

More important, if they advertise 24/7 customer support they should actually provide it.

I was not a happy man last night.

They seem to have removed the radio reset on newer models, short of disconnecting the battery. There doesn't seem to be a fuse either. Must have been a good reason for it but don't know it.

I may be confused with the reset where the radio is locked or blank, and you can't get to that screen Older radios had a hard button push sequence.

That’s the 8.4 screen, correct?

Mine is the Uconnect 4 system with 7” screen. That option does not exist.

Hey IGO4LOW, tsouzee & hoppyjr,

I'm sorry this is happening! I was able to locate some service information indicating to check your rear-view mirror to see if the “SOS” or “Assist” buttons may be sticking - this will causes the radio to stay awake. If you're noticing this happening all the time, I would recommend following up with your dealership to see if they can inspect and diagnose this in person. If anyone needs any additional assistance, just PM us!

Mine is a 2018 Laredo and there are no such buttons on my rear-view mirror.

This happened to me this morning also. I've done this same thing in the past and thought the radio shutoff once I opened the door. I wonder if this is new behavior as a result from a resent U connect update?

I'm wondering if after a few minutes it would shutdown on its own or once your phone got far enough away it would shutdown?
