Quadra lift replacement

I have a 2014 GC Summit with Quadra Lift and $130,000 km (81,000 miles). Two months ago the rear air spring broke and had to be replaced. I’m very concerned about driving the car long distance anymore as I fear the other one will break too. Here are my questions:

1. Should I replace the other rear air spring as a preventative measure?
2. How long are these air springs supposed to last?
3. Is it common for an independent shop to replace them? Last time I had to spend $1800CAD to have one air spring replaced.

Your help is much appreciate it.

Those that don't have issues or are damaged can last more then 200,000 miles.

Debris can be thrown up to damage them, they can be torn by jacking up the Jeep and disconnecting the shock. It doesn't seem to be a wear item.

There are shops in Canada that replace the air suspension with coil springs.

130,000 km (81,000 miles) is not a lot of miles, just getting broken in .
Dysfunction likes this.

I was born with nuttin' and I still have most of it.

just curious if there were signs of this to come. My 2014 has about the same km as yours.

Do you know that you can still get an extended, bumper-to-bumper, warranty from Mopar/Jeep? I'm not talking about those 3rd party no-name things. This a true factory warranty with rental car included. Might as well spend the cash on that, and it will give you another 5/100,000 km from the 6 year in-service date.

I asked for the warranty and I was quoted CAD 4600 for 3 years. Makes no sense in my opinion. There were no signs. One day, one parking lot, rear end bottomed out. Does anyone else have experience on this? Should one breaking means that both should be replaced? Or should I hold off from replacing?

Lots of folks report sudden failure, many with a bang-hiss. Its caused not by wear but damage. Since its not related to wear, I don't know any anyone that replaces the second preemptively at that low mileage. At double that mileage there is some thought. Do you take yours off road? If you think the second one is damaged, then replace it.

I bought it second hand at 120,000km about 8 months ago so I don't know what the previous owner did, however, the car looks pristine, doesn't look like they took it off-road. However, the tow cover was open so they might have towed stuff in the past.

You are making a good point -they are damaged not worn out. The other air spring looks fine, I can't see any damage. What do you consider high mileage for this car? (I have a V6).

Not all dealers know the ins and out of the extended warranty.

Check out these links. There are 2 warranties available for you, one is better than the other, and one is only available if your vehicle has been in service for 6 years or less (any dealer can tell you your in-service date if you call them and tell them your VIN).

You want the Certified warranty if you are within the 6 year date. You should be able to get another 5 years or 100,000 km for $4600. I can tell you a dealer here that will give it to you at that price or less (and it shouldn't matter if you are in a differ province than AB)

Good info and timely.

Is that quote for the Powertrain C60 plan, or the comprehensive C90 plan?

Thanks!
