Smile New Jeep GC Overland owner

Hello Jeep GC community! I just purchased my very first JGC Overland - a 2012 with 73K miles in excellent condition from Carmax. The vehicle was originally sold here in Southern California, I'm the 2nd owner and I contacted the dealer that serviced it. The dealer said it's been very, very well maintained, has had all recall issues taken care of and routine maintenance performed. I'm bringing it in to them tomorrow to have them go over it with me as the new owner, transfer ownership in their records and ask about a warranty if the previous owner didn't have one that can be transferred to me. Is there anything I'm missing that I should ask about? I think I definitely need a warranty because of the complexity of the systems that I can't maintain myself - the auto adjustable air suspension is awesome! Oh, and it drives like a dream! I have 30 days to have Carmax fix any issues that may come up so I figured I'd bring it to the dealer that serviced it and get up to speed. Thanks for any input you can provide!

Nice. The only warranty that makes sense is a MaxCare type. I'm not sure what the age and mileage restrictions are.

You can get an idea of the plans here. Shop around and you may do better.

If its the V8, check the water pumps condition. Check to see if the water pump has been replaced.

Thanks for the tip! I did not choose the HEMI version because I didnít need the added cost of getting 10mpg! lol I got the 3.6l V6 and it runs great. Iíll only be towing a motorcycle at times also. So far gas mileage is better than my 2006 Acura TL I traded in, so Iím happy.
Iím guessing $5K for a MaxCare 5 year 75,000 mile extended warranty is a good deal?
Is it possible the vehicle still has a valid warranty with the dealer?

Congrats on the Overland! Sounds like you've got a pretty good Jeep dealer there if they did all of that for you. Most are like "huh?" when you ask them about service history on a vehicle. As for any remaining warranty, unless it was originally sold late(well in to 2013) any original warranty would be out of time('12s came with a 5 year/100K powertrain). I used the above mentioned site to buy an extended max care warranty on my Charger and likely will again very soon on our '18 Trailhawk. I'm not sure what all is available for an older vehicle that's out of factory warranty, but I'd check them out. Hope you have many good years(and miles) with your overland!

$5,000 for any extended warranty is a ridiculously high price to pay!

A $200 deductible good deal seems to be about $3700 for 5 years 75,000 miles. They don't seem to offer anything longer for a used vehicle. For new vehicle plans, they must have been in service for less than 4 years.

Yes, I recall it being a Powertrain warranty for up to 5 years 100K miles for roughly $3K that I could've rolled into the financing - it would've raised the cost per month by about $35 which I didn't want to do. I also thought I'd be able to find an all-inclusive warranty for that price. I need to call the dealer and speak to Finance about the options for an extended warranty, but the paperwork I took away shows up to 10 years - I just don't know if it applies to my 2012 with its' mileage... I'll update here when I know more.

Not saying its a good idea to buy a warranty, but one transmission repair or a compressor and radio will eat into that pretty much.
