Microphone?? I dunno...are we playing answer question with a question??
Location seems odd....for phone bracket, microphone...whateve....don't know anything about trailer brake bracket except that it seems a brake bracket would have to be mounted on something sturdier than plastic? I could be wrong of course.

Brake controllers are lightweight and are often mounted and leave holes like that, but they are usually on the right side of the steering column, unless the driver is left handed. But doesn't later models have a knee airbag behind that trim?

I was born with nuttin' and I still have most of it

Yes they do.."mine" might have 2 holes in airbag...n i'm not laughing.... Thanks for the confirmation tho...

Wouldn't a damaged airbag have some kind of code/ notification? I'm sure the dealer I bought it from would take care of it if it is damaged....

It is unlikely that the airbags are damaged, but that would be a bad place to mount something.

The airbag runs along the very bottom edge of the panel under the steering wheel, and if you look, you can see a line across the panel, which is designed to break when the bag is triggered... It has a metal shroud behind it to make sure it only inflates forward, and down. There is nothing up there behind that spot to damage.
