Leather repair for seats

What is the most cost effective repair/replacement for the leather seats? I have two ripped seats, both a product of my stupidity.

I don't think I want to do a patch job, but would rather replace the leather. Talking to my friendly local dealer, it sounds like they are going to take my leather off of the seats to replace a faulty seat warmer and then put it back on, is replacing the leather that easy? Is that a potential solution? Anyone every pay for aftermarket coverings like Katzkin?
