extended warranty

I bought my GC with 34,9xx miles on it, and I was under the impression that because it had not hit 36000 miles I could still buy the extended warranty at a "lower" rate, BUT I did not realize the 3 year mark hit before the mileage... anyways I just got a quote directly from MOPAR and because I am no longer under the warranty period they want $2800 for 3 year/36000 miles.

I think that's a bit excessive and a very short time, what do you guys think is it fair because I am out warranty? are there better prices out there?

There are discount dealers on line that can save quite a few $$ over MOPAR list.

Off hand I don't recall, but it was discussed recently.

As far as I know, the MOPAR one is the only one to get, otherwise put the money into a rainy day fund.

I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory;

Thanks cold case, I found chryslerfactoryplans . c o m and they have great pricing and I talked to a rep and they even provided me with a discount code.

The plan I like best is 5 years 75k miles with a $200 deductible for $2500.

Can anyone here vouch for this website?

I got pricing from them and then went to my local dealer and asked for the same terms and got it for the same price the website quoted. Also make sure it's additional years and miles not total.

I bought mine from Tom Winkels. He saved me over $1,500 off what the finance manager at my dealer wanted for the exact same warranty.

this is what i did...my only mistake was the dealer asked me what my quote was and I told him. My much financially smarter wife said "you should have made him give a price first, or given a lower number....might've got it even cheaper". I showed my hand......

Thank you all who have answered, will purchasing an extended warranty from someone in Michigan (TOM), cause any problems when trying to use it in California (where I live), I see some of you who have recommended Tom are from all over the country. How does it work when trying to take it in for service.

Its a MOPAR warranty, take it into any dealer, doesn't matter. They will look up if you have warranty coverage, the same if you purchased it at the dealer. Most dealers welcome any service as it keeps their service bays full, although there may be an exception. The only variable is that if you live in some states, the warranty is transferable to the next owner, otherwise its not transferable.

Typically they want a diagnostic charge up front, usually an hour's shop labor. That gets refunded if they find something covered by the warranty, then you only pay the deductible.

Actually pretty seamless.

that sounds pretty damn easy, my wife reached out to him and he quoted us on the max care 5 years 75k miles with a $100 deductible for only $1395...

the price is so damn good that it worries me seriously though. I mean how can he sell them all thousands less!

From negotiating for multiple long-term warranties, it appears there is a ton of markup on these policies. On the BMW we had the same experience, a BMW dealer in Maryland sold policies for WAY less than a typical dealer. On the Infiniti, they quoted me a price while buying the car, I offered them 40% less, and they said "okay." And for the Jeep, we purchased through Tom at a huge discount.

Cheers

Be aware that the way these extended warranties have been quoted, 5 years means from in service date, not from the date you purchase the extended warranty. And 75k miles is what the odometer says, its not added to your current mileage.
