My vehicle was purchased in 2012 ... they don't even offer the lifetime plan any longer.

I just paid $3415 for 7 year/unlimited mile plan on 2020 Summit, and I drive 50,000 miles a year. I am happy with the new price, and not scared at the 7 year limit, although I had the lifetime/unlimited on my last 2014 Overland, and paid about $2400 for it, both with $100 deductible. On the last one, I would bet they did over $30,000 of "dealer" priced repair work.

$6,355. I'm not even to 90k on it yet. Mainly worried about air suspension issues as the compressor was being a problem early in my ownership due to restricted air lines. Should have gotten the MaxCare plan when I bought it in April. Upwards of $4k likely would have been covered already (water pump, radiator, belts/pulley tensioner, throttle body, front air suspension lines and pressure relief valves). I didn't and still don't want to part with it. However, the only way I can justify keeping it is with this MaxCare plan in place. If I wouldn't have gotten the GC for $15,500 with 76k on it, I would never even considered throwing this extra $$ at it.

Oh my. Thatís a lot of money. Hopefully itís worth it (or not worth it meaning you donít have more problems to repair).

Now you have roughly $10,000 in repair costs ($4k youíve put in plus $6k for the new warranty) into a $15k vehicle.

Thatís a tough pill to swallow.

Yeah. I look at it a bit different.
1) The car I traded in needed 4-5k in maintenance. 2) At $15,500 it was under priced by about 3-4k to begin with...almost like they knew it was gonna have issues. Should've been a 18-19k purchase. 3) I want to drive this Jeep for a long time. 4) Unfortunately, finding a quality replacement vehicle is not really any cheaper and my monthly nut would close to double for a much longer term...still coming out ahead including the warranty. I was able to put enough down.. the remainder is $200/mo for 24 months interest free. 5) Given that this Jeep has provided an almost monthly maintenance burden...I bet there will be plenty of smaller issues along the way so when an expensive issue or two pops up...it makes getting the plan a sound decision, maybe not a "win" but not a complete loss either.

Really love this Jeep GC. Rare color scheme and the ACC. Nicest vehicle I've ever owned.

Maybe all wishful thinking... we'll see.

Yeah, its like predicting what will happen in chaos. On one hand, there is some comfort that you won't be unexpectedly hit with a large repair bill. On the other hand, most things you worry about won't happen anyway.

May you have many miles of smiles.

I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory;

Update:

Was wishful thinking. The MaxCare has paid for itself since January (even at $6,355). Jeep is in & out of shop monthly for various issues. Can no longer rely on it and will be moving on despite my love for driving it. Second kiddo on the way and don't have the time to deal with it anymore. Sucks.

Sorry to hear about your WK2. My 2011 overland 5.7L v8 has had a ton of problems since purchase as well, but I love the dang thing like a bad habit, ugh.

Not had the best of luck since purchasing my 2011 GC Overland Summit in April 2020. Currently only has 88k miles on it. Really love driving this Jeep but worried problems just keep coming. Wish I would have bought an extended warranty when I bought it. I'm at the point where I either get rid of it or buy a bumper to bumper warranty. I want to drive it for a really long time if I can. Any thoughts on warranty providers? Do any of the extended warranty products cover the air suspension system? Thanks for any input.
I have the warantee the guys in my club say its usless, yet it covers more than way more than the factory warrantee

Hi ok here's an update on mine. I bought mine from Infinite Auto Protection. I would NOT recommend them, but here is my math:

Warranty Price - $1,950. for ~75,000 miles of coverage - purchased in May 2020. In the last year and a half - the warranty has paid for $1,018.68. I've paid for an additional $528.32 in non-covered charges from the covered repairs (example, diagnostic fees, alignments, shop labor overages, ect).

So - I can't decide if I just picked the most expensive way possible to get my Jeep repaired, or if this will work out in the end.

Without the extended warranty, I would have likely paid ~$1,500 out of pocket (most of the repairs aren't anything I could in my garage) - so you could look at it as additional warranty coverage for only $450 more......I guess....

Might have another claim coming up in a month, I'm starting to hear some noises. The 2011 Grand Cherokee V8 4x4 has about 112,000 miles on it now....

I did a lot of research on purchasing an extended warranty, EVERYONE here says that mopar extended warranty is the one and only way, but after doing research on them, they seem to have a bad rep just like any extended warranty company might have.

I spent quite some time reading reviews on various insurance claims form different vendors including mopar and it seems to be a hit or miss with every situation.

I read a review where the customer claimed mopar denied a transmission repair because the tires were not of original size and that extra stress was enough to cause the damage, that's pretty ridiculous. As well with other company's denying repairs for petty reasons.

I too read reviews about satisfied customers who had their repair cost paid for in the upward of thousands of dollars.

Ultimately I think every situation vary's by too many variables especially with newer cars that have so many parts and components.

I ended up purchasing an extended warranty for 7 years of 80,000 thousand miles for a few K's. Considering all the possibilities that can go wrong with my 2018 overland which has almost all features, something is bound to go bad and I hope my extended warranty covers it.

The one warrantee I had purchased was with another car , however you could check on the dealers official recommend warrantee
and it covers things I couldn't believe like struts sway bars ,linkages suspension and all keep searching ,good luck
