Enjoying my GC

I see a lot of issues here, not unlike the Harley, BMW and RAM forums I belong to...

Just thought it would be nice to have a thread to share positive experiences.

I bought my 3.6L 2018 GC Limited new in October and it's been great...ride, gas mileage, etc. Very glad I made the move.

I've dealt with the same dealership for 20 years and they always treat me right.

I've added some aftermarket stuff like side rails and Weathertech mats, but it's still basically stock...for now.

The only feature I don't care for is the headlights...too dim for my liking. That's the extent of my negative thoughts about the vehicle. I imagine I'll upgrade those before long.

We're taking it from Richmond, VA to Toronto, ON and back next month, and we're really looking forward to the journey.

Hello varoadking, I got my 2018 Grand Cherokee September 30th and I also think it's a great car. Enjoy!

Overall they are pretty great cars, although slightly overpriced due to the brand, not many complints about mine so far.

We're almost triplets. I drove mine home on September 28th.

BTW, September 30th was on a Sunday. Was the dealership open on that day?

Hey Roadijeff,

Yes, they were open and crazy busy. September 30, 2018 was the last day of the 3rd quarter and only a day or two from some Jeep incentives set to end.

I set this purchase up online and by phone, had an appointment set between noon - 1pm on Sunday and drove 175 miles each way to do this. The person that confirmed the final cost of the Jeep told me that they really wanted to sell 64 cars over the weekend ~ by end of day Monday. I'll bet they got close because while I was there I saw a few new cars leaving the lot that day, they probably had at least 6 salesmen on the floor selling cars.

This complete process for me started with an email to a salesman on Thursday and was finalized by phone around noon on Saturday. Purchase was completed on Sunday and I am very happy with this Jeep!

I bought mine Sept 28th and am still enjoying it. Even after having it for a few months I still look forward to and enjoy driving it.

I had to put $1000 or so of DIY work and parts into mine to get it nice.

The transmission is a bit funky and I thought the 3.6 L would have a bit more punch. Only gripes I have.

Crossovers are huge right now and I really like mine too. BMW X5 would be my only other choice.

I'm not a rich man and a brand new one isn't in the budget. Tags for new vehicles can be around $700 a year too.

Crossover ? Huh.

According to the media and most Wiki sites:

Body on frame = SUV

Unibody like the WK2 = Crossover

Jeep = Jeep, although the last traditional "Jeep" was the CJ family (CJ = Civilian Jeep)

varoadking, what dealership do you use?

midnightrambler 01-28-2019 09:42 PM

Well also on the "enjoying my GC" bandwagon, I'm now almost 6 years into owning my 2012 Laredo 3.6 and here's a list of things that have gone wrong with it...

That's right. Nothing. I've done oil changes and recalls and a minor warranty fix of a squeaky lumbar support in the drivers seat... but that's it. I did recently upgrade the shocks to Bilsteins but the original ones were still fine. The Bilsteins are a nice upgrade though.

Very happy with this Jeep. Might be the best vehicle I've ever owned.

I too am in the very happy with my 18 GC group. Only 7500 miles on it but only thing wrong with it so far is I have the headliner rattle. Not to bad right now, only happens at speeds above 35mph and not too loud yet. If it doesnt get any worse I plan to just deal with it as I dont really trust the dealer will be able to fix it without causing other issues.

NicRuf 01-29-2019 08:52 AM

I have a loaded '17 Summit in walnut brown with the dark sienna brown interior that I love. I was a serial car hopper before I'm thinking I'm going to keep this for a long time.

I may upgrade the Uconnect with the replacement unit from Infotainment to get apple car play but other than that I am super happy.

No issues so far at about 11,000 miles.

The time now is 12:20 AM.
