Installation of block heater cord in 2014 Grand Cherokee diesel

Diverb, you said you reached the block plug by taking the right front tire off. How did you get the panel between the wheel well and the engine compartment off, so that the plug for the heater can be reached? I don't want to cut it out or leave it out.

You have to remove all the plastic clips around the periphery of the fender liner, and there is a little trick to doing that. If you look closely at one of the clips you will see a small diameter circle in the center of the head of the clip. That is a plastic pic that sticks out when the clip is put in place, and then the pin is pushed in to lock the clip. Take a small diameter rod (piece of coat hanger for example), place it on the center pin, and tap it with something to push the pin into the clip. This will release the clip so you can pry it up with a screw driver.

When replacing the clips, make sure the pin is sticking out, position the clip, and tap the pin in until it is flush.

I'm sorry guys, I accidentally deleted the photos of the block heater cord install from my photo bucket account. It showed just where you can go in from the wheel well. Sorry
