Couple 5.7 Questions

Hi,

I was wondering what people with the 5.7s are getting for gas mileage.

Mainly people with the 8 speed.

Does a tune make a significant difference? If so what is the best one to get?

Does a cold air intake help a lot or is it not worth it?

Should you tune MDS off or keep it on?

I plan on getting a catch can also.

Thanks,
Christian

Lots of discussions on this in many previous threads.

The 8 speed is a great match to the 5.7 giving about 15-16 in town and 21-23 on the highway under average conditions.

The Jeepís stock intake plumbing is very efficient as is, and an intake will only enhance the sound, which is what a lot of folks (me included) like.

The MDS is intended to help gas mileage and is hardly noticeable under most driving conditions.

A catch can seems to be a good idea for the V8.

Is this the same question discussed here, or is there something different I missed?

Yeah I know I posted a similar thread but that one was about tunes and catch cans this one is mainly for MPG.

Typical MPGs vary by model year, but there are tons of threads with a wide variety of reports. Warm weather, if you do mostly city, expect 14-18, highway expect 18-22, towing around 12. MDS saves 1-2 mpg, but is most effective on the highway. Using adaptive cruise on the highway puts the PCM into a super secrete economy mode, saves a few 10ths mpg.. ... but then your mileage may vary, especially with cold weather and winter fuel .

Yeah, I was duped on this one and didnít catch the similarity.

Time to go on hiatus from answering posts asking for help!

I know this is off topic but what mods do you have?

Also, what do you get for a 0-60 time?
