Apple CarPlay Upgrade
Hi everyone - I have a 2015 GC Overland - wondering if it would be possible to upgrade my Uconnect to have Apple CarPlay - is this an easy thing to do? If so, roughly how much would it cost?
My Reality Check Bounced
Easy but not cheap. The radio needs care play hardware chips, so you are into a radio replacement. There may be aftermarket options from Kenwood, Pioneer, etc.
I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory;
Current: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland V8, 2009 Liberty Rocky Mt V6
Previous: 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo I6, 1979 CJ7 I6 Quadratrac
I am strongly considering this on my 2012 as well. After a nice road trip, Android Auto would have been great. Playing around on Crutchfield it can be done with great features for around $500-$600 on older units when you go 3rd party. With a 2015, you can get a newer radio swapped in but I think you are looking at $1600 or so

I did the infotainment upgrade on my 2017 GC Summit. Was very easy, maybe 20-30 minutes to get it all connected. Worked perfectly. Definitely not cheap but but a great upgrade. Beyond just carplay/android auto the screen is a little higher resolution, better graphics, etc. You lose the ability to crank the car with the app on your phone with this upgrade but that wasn't a big deal to me.
