Question Anyone Use Amazon Oil?

Hey Guys,

I have a 2012 GC Overland with the V8 Hemi. I've been watching some of the review videos about the Amazon Full Synthetic 5w-20 oil. It seems to outperform or equally perform as well Mobil 1.

Anyone use the Amazon oil? It seems to be $20 a jug vs. $40 a jug for Mobil 1 Extended Performance...

Thoughts?

Project Farm did a test recently. I use Fleet Farm Resolute $20 a gallon full synthetic myself.

Amazon is out to undercut everyone else, drive them out of business, and then double prices... happened several times.

They pay review sites for positive reviews.

What is the banter on Bob's the oil guy? Does it meet FCA specs? Last I checked even Mobile One wasn't certified, only one of the Shell offerings.

I stay away from those ******* guys when I can. Plenty of alternatives.

Whatever oil you use be sure it states on the label that it meets Chrysler's MS-6395 spec. Most Mobil 1 oil does not state that and if you are still under warranty it could cause a problem if the dealer wants an excuse to deny an engine-related warranty claim.

Napa full synthetic works fine and isn't overly expensive. Used to get Rotella from Wally world, it also works fine.

Anyone have a motor blow up because they didn't use it?

Oils with Chrysler spec are readily available. For my peace of mind, I always use them.

Yeah, I picked up a 5 qt container of Valvoline 5w-30 synthetic oil today.

On sale from $30 to $26 a 5 qt, and was 6395 spec oil too.

The Resolute Oil is not C spec oil. I have a leak I need to find too.

I've always ran Castrol Edge 5w20 in my Liberty without any issues. It always goes 4,000 miles without using a drop between changes. Last oil change I decided to give Mobil One a try being it was on sale at Walmart for 8 dollars less than the Castrol Edge. It used a quart and a half between the 4000 mile change interval, I was very surprised to see this being everyone raves about Mobil One. This last change I put in Pennzoil Platinum which is recommended by Chrysler and again is about 8 bucks per 5qt. container than the Castrol and meets the 6395 spec oil which I was unaware that the Castrol doesn't. My '17 WK2 Limited gets Pennzoil Platinum 0w20 Synthetic as recommended by Chrysler as well and doesn't use a drop between changes either.

I just ordered 2 jugs of High Mileage 5W-20 Amazon oil (full synthetic). I plan to do an oil change this weekend... Ill report back.

FYI - each jug (5 qt) was $19.99...it's worth a try for 4000+ miles...I can always go back to Mobil 1 Extended Performance if Im not happy or see more consumption than normal.

At least for me, and I am a very frugal person, for the the little bit of money that is saved it is not worth it for such an expensive investment such as a vehicle. It is only $29 at WalMart for the Mobil 1 Extended performance.

I have to wonder who makes amazon oil, I am sure its a well known motor oil company that amazon buys it from and just rebrands it.

From my google research Warren Petroleum makes it who also makes much of the Wal Mart SuperTech line typically depending on geographical location of your specific Wal Mart. Our Wal Mart here in North East Texas carries the Warren bottled Supertech for instance.

WP makes a lot of house branded oils out there.

BITOG forums speak well of both supertech and Amazon oils at this point so if you're interested I don't think you can go wrong with either one just grab the one that's the cheapest.

According to this older 9 year old thread on BITOG Warren bottles the following lines

* Accel
* Kum & Go Super Premium
* Mag 1
* Oasis Market
* Pilot Premium
* ProLine (Pep Boys)
* Spectrum Plus (Sears)
* Supertech (Walmart; some)
* Traveller (Tractor Supply
