AC Low Pressure Port

Is the 2016 Grand Cherokee supposed to have a larger than normal low pressure AC valve? I tried to refill the R134 in the wife's Jeep and I found what should be the low pressure valve but the fill adapter doesnt fit on it. It's not my adapter because I used it to recharge my TJ.

Check with ColdCase on this one. I am sure he could point you in the right direction.

The port is a different size, because it uses different refrigerant - R-1234yf vs. R-134. I just ran into the same issue on my 2015 (you should check on your 2016 to make sure it uses the 1234yf and not something newer still - there will be a decal somewhere in the engine compartment)

So, you'll need a different adapter to connect to the Low Pressure port, and you'll need a can of the right refrigerant. It's pretty spendy - I paid something like $44 for an 8 oz. can at Advance Auto.

So in what year did they begin using R-1234yf refrigerant?
