8 speed transmittion service

Hi all, changed my 8 speed transmittion fluid and pan yesterday, was a pita, but got it done. Having a issue though....I drained 4.6lt out and only can put back in 4lt. I've gone through the fill procedure and taken it for a good drive. 4lt is all it'll take. Could it of been over fill from factory? Shifting ok, temp is ok.

What fill procedure did you use, i.e. did you keep topping it up after running it hot and cold?

I was born with nuttin' and I still have most of it.

8 speed transmission service

I filled the transmission woth the new pan in it until fluid was running out. Started up, put into drive for 5 sec, reverse for 5 sec, ran in second gear for 5 sec (wheels off ground) pit into netural and held engine at 2000rpm for 5 seconds, placed in park. Shut off (trans was at 50degC (needs to be between 30 and 50degC) checked fluid, put a tiny amount in until it was running out again. Done. Still less than 4lt...

Checked this morning when cold (still 30deg) and put another tiny amount in.

Is the motor meant to be running while filling up?? Only thing I can think of...
