2018 Grand Cherokee and UConnect Problems

I drove my brand new, 2018 Grand Cherokee off the lot at about 6:00 this past Saturday night (2/3/18). By Sunday afternoon, nothing was functioning properly. Radio stations switched by themselves, then began reprogramming the preset stations....all without any guidance from me. It also kept highlighting the clock and asking if I wanted to adjust clock settings, again without prompting from me. It bounces from station to station, to the clock, to reprogramming, to "This function not available while vehicle is in motion". Best part? I had no control. It wouldn't respond to my touch AT ALL.

I took the day off of work on Monday to deal with the issue. I spent the entire day at the dealership (2 separate trips) and was told I received several updates that didn't work. A new update was to be sent straight to the car and I was promised it would fix the problem. Update didn't arrive until Tuesday night.....and it still didn't work.

I dropped my car back off at the service department on Wednesday morning, and was promised a new system would be ordered. Wednesday afternoon, I got a phone call saying that Star, Chrysler's tech company, wouldn't provide my dealership with the part number and authorize the order. I've spoken with the dealership and Chrysler at least 20 times in the last 3 days, yet Star refuses to fix the problem.

The Grand Cherokee has been mine for not even 5 days, yet it spent all of Monday at the dealership as well as the last day and a half at the dealership. This is my third Grand Cherokee. I was convinced this would be the truck I drove for the rest of my life. Now, I'm not so sure.

It appears there are many more 2018 Uconnect Headunit issues to be worked out!

First of all let me say our family owns 3 Jeeps. We just purchased a brand new 2018 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk purchased Jan 2. Really thought this was going to be the "forever" vehicle. VERY disappointed. Center console screen started turning off and on by itself this morning and keeps doing it every 30 seconds. It is now over 12 hours later. Will NOT shut off even after the car is turned completely off. Within the 30 second timeframe, we tried resetting but did not work. Car is in our garage with the screen turning on and off all by itself and car is NOT on or keyfob is no where near the car. Center console screen is getting very HOT. We have tried to call Uconnect who told us to call Sirius Guardian who told us to call Jeep Customer Care who told us to call Roadside Assistance. No one from Roadside Assistance was available to come out in the evening. We had no choice but to try and disconnect the car battery to avoid the center console screen from shorting since it is extremely HOT....afraid of something shorting and causing a fire. Hopefully Roadside assistance can tow tomorrow to the dealer. Feel like this problem should be disclosed to others thinking of purchasing new 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

There is probably a fuse for that, as an alternative.

I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory;

Wow, two cases of Uconnect function problems. There is something going on there for sure. Bad circuit boards, bad installation, or some other wire harness problem with these vehicles. Using these Jeep Forums, sent JeepCares a private message as described above and see if they won't be an advocate to get your new Grand Cherokee back to 100% fast.

I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee with an October build date. I love the vehicle, very nice. I have had problems with my "radio" presets getting scrambled from time to time. I have not observed any particular occurrence that causes it, like using the remote start, or turning off the Uconnect at night, like cold days. It seems very random. So far it is an annoyance that I will mention to my dealer when I go in for my first service.

Just posted in another thread, looks like this is a uconnect issue directly. Yesterday around 2pm my screen on my GC that I leased brand new this past wed and has 200 miles on it, started to reboot every 30 seconds or so non stop. After searching and coming up with this forum and a call to uconnect I was told itís a known issue since yesterday at least and hopefully they can have their tech look into it starting tomorrow. Thatís the latest news I got as of 11am or so this morning.

Seems to be a problem (software) across the FCA brands, not only Jeep.

Same problem, the screen reboots every 20-30 seconds. Spoke with Jeep twice this weekend and they state it is a problem ďacross the country, which started on FridayĒ ďWe created a patch to correct the problem, which immediately crashed.Ē No fix on the horizon... I have 300 miles on a $43,000 vehicle and I havenít been able to adjust the heat or listen to the radio for 3 days. Pretty disappointing.

Started having same problem with my GC Trailhawk 2-3 days ago: Uconnect turns off a re-boots every 30 seconds or so. Check out the other thread posted above. Seems like it's a widespread issue. Calling dealer now

Mine hasn't rebooted. Not even once. It simply programs and reprograms the stations constantly, then tries to adjust the clock, then blasts my heated seats and wheel to the point that I sweat. Screen doesn't respond to my touch, so I can't turn it off! Or listen to a radio station for more than 10 seconds. Or drive without the constant 'beep' when something is programmed....

Someone needs to make this right.
