2017 uconnect freezes

Have a 2017 grand Cherokee radio quit playing music, and would freeze with phone calls. Tried to update with the usb, would not work. Did the factory resets, now says it’s an SRT and it won’t turn off at all. Redid the update with a new usb, still nothing and the usb got hot...

Doesn’t have warranty so trying to figure out the best thing to do, can it be fixed or what’s a good radio to put in it, prefer car play if going that route, thanks.

Dunno off hand if the 2017 has a radio fuse. If so pull it for a minute. If not, disconnect the battery for 5 minutes. If it doesn't recover, verify you have a good download and try the update again.

Sometimes they first display the a different vehicle, then within a day or so returns to normal.

You can check with infotainment.com for OEM radio repair or upgrade. You can check Crutchfield for what radios work with the 2017 and has the features you want. I'm partial to Kenwood, but there are several good options.

I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory;
Current: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland V8, 2009 Liberty Rocky Mt V6
Previous: 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo I6, 1979 CJ7 I6 Quadratrac

Gotcha, I found part #’s for factory 2018 with CarPlay but there discontinued, can easily find the hub though.
I would like to just put in a kenwood but the wife likes factory.

After searching awhile I think infotainment is gonna be the way to go, was hoping something cheaper, hopefully will have a Black Friday sale.

Undoing the battery for a little while did get the radio working but already froze again and still won’t read the update.
